Bunny Dance offers a way to save and listen to YouTube and Soundcloud; once you select and customize model, you can watch her dance to whatever links you fed the application! Alternatively, if you’re interested in interacting with your tracks you may enjoy the optional “Arrow Gameplay” and “Keyboard Gameplay”. Arrow Gameplay provides basic rhythm mechanics; an arrow will appear on screen, and you need to time an appropriate keypress. Keyboard Gameplay is the same thing, but instead of arrows they’re letters!
I couldn’t figure out how to not miss a single note. I genuinely think these game modes are just broken. I was hoping to play something similar to Friday Night Funkin’, but the dysfunctional prompts were the most pathetic “Arrow Gameplay” I’ve ever played. Friday Night Funkin’ asks for rapid sequences of button presses — in Bunny Dance, you just stop a glorified timer every few seconds. It sucks waiting for the next prompt, and it sucks waiting for timers. Everything sucks. I was stuck watching my avatar throw a tantrum with every unavoidable “miss”. Don’t get mad at me big-boob lady, take it up with EastFog Studios!

Using a nude model, you can make your music videos a little more. . . interesting, but there isn’t a way strip the “default” character. But that didn’t stop me from trying! Fiddling around the in-built modding tools, I figured out a roundabout way to remove her dress! I downloaded a new character and dress from the Steam Workshop, and I copy/pasted the character data on top of the dress (using my file explorer). When I loaded the dress in-game, nothing was displayed, effectively creating an “invisible” dress! The default character has a beautiful set of tits — I don’t understand what the developers were trying to hide!
EastFog Studios offers a set of video tutorials on how to add your own models to the game, but they require a skillset and software I can’t be bothered to learn. I’m not interested in learning Unity and another 3D modeling program to make mods for a shitty game. Chances are, anyone already knowledgeable in these software aren’t gonna spend their time on Bunny Dance. I wish EastFog Studios offered a more robust character creation tool for the vast majority of players. Most people don’t have the time to learn specialized software, and what already comes with the game looks great!

The application comes preloaded with a “background” music, but there aren’t any tracks for characters to dance to; music must be supplied using links to YouTube videos or Soundcloud music. Unfortunately, this method of music is absurdly skippy. Maybe my internet connect is total trash, but I know I can play YouTube videos without pauses — I don’t understand why Bunny Dance can only play a few seconds of audio at a time. It’d be nice if I could upload tracks via my own PC, considering how trash the application is at playing back online content. You’d think playing local files would be easier than fetching them online, but hey I’m no developer.

The game looks and feels good; I loved the interface and pre-packaged content, but user-made content is full of misses. Until you watch the animation, Bunny Dance comes off as a seemingly high-budget offering. From the “Settings” menu display and graphical preferences may be adjusted via the main-menu. Considering Bunny Dance soaked up one-hundred percent of my GPU (an RTX 2060), lower-end PCs will appreciate adjustable graphics. Unfortunately, the animation is hardly worth the strain on my GPU. There’s so much clipping and robotic movement — but the absurd jiggle physics are worth every second of one-hundred percent.

I like the idea, but I can’t recommend anyone purchase this game. Bunny Dance is so dysfunctional, you’re better-off listening to music on your browser. For a game that’s about all about playing tunes, you’d think it could play your songs at least somewhat competently. I’d rather listen to corporate propaganda (e.g. ads) than dead silence every ten seconds. With only one character, dance and stage, it doesn’t take long to grow bored of this game. It’s clear EastFog Studios wants users to take advantage of modding support and add what they should have already provided — but I don’t see anyone sitting through the hour-long training videos. Even if someone were to make competent models, there aren’t any interesting ways to interact with them. Bunny Dance is a one-trick “plug-and-play” application. If you’re going to learn how to animate and rig models for dance animation, you might as well learn Miku Miku Dance (MMD). MMD won’t hold your hand, but the sky’s the limit — and it actually plays music!
