Gameplay (1/5★)

Travel between “events” and talk to monster girls! Though Monster Girl Dungeon offers open-world exploration, this game is more akin to a kinetic visual novel. The “gameplay” is strictly relegated to traveling between characters, and a few button presses during mini-games. Perhaps in future updates, there will be a reason to have an explorable world.

Story (2/5★)

One day, a portal crops up in your room. Like any reasonable soul, you walk inside that portal. . . only to be cast into a mysterious forest (with no escape!) Thankfully, the women of this world (or rather, “monsterrr… girls”) are totally friendly (and super promiscuous!) It’s like a dream come true! But you’re not the first one to visit this strange world. . . which begs the question, why are you the only man in the entire world? Also, spoiler alert: there’s no dungeons. Nope, not even one.

Visuals (2/5★)

The titlescreen looks amateurish, but the animation is kind of cute! There is no “options” menu anywhere in the game. There isn’t even a “pause” menu. Adjustable audio and display preferences should come standard in all games, but I think this game should also have graphical settings. Monster Girl Dungeon is far from a “AAA” game, but not everybody is able to render 3D, open-worlds. You’re able to save your game at designated, in-game spots (but it’s unclear whether or not the game actually saves) — a printed notification would have been nice. Overall, Monster Girl Dungeon is a cheery sight, but the models are very hit or miss. I saw numerous visual errors, such as floating, misplaced or off-scale objects. The characters are serviceable sometimes, and uncanny other times. The worst character (by far) is you. You are the player character is visually abhorrent!

The ‘Goods’ (2/5★)

There are a few sex-scenes in the game: I think I saw four or five. Most of them are advanced by repeatedly and methodically pressing single key, and then ended by holding “C” (to cum). The sex-scenes are bleh; advancement is boring, and the animations aren’t great. The user-interface can’t be hidden, and there’s no gallery to review scenes. Though the models aren’t great, the variety of monster girls is swell! Monster Girl Dungeon puts the “monster” in “monster girl” with peculiar waifus. I’ll tell you what — I’ve neve seen a man screw a caterpillar’s ass before (and I’ll tell you what — I’ve seen a lot of things!)

Verdict (1.5/5★)

Wait for updates. You can’t go wrong with free, but Monster Girl Dungeon has a long way to go before it’s worth downloading. As it stands, this game does not need to offer an “open world to explore” when it’s only dialogue and sex-scenes. If anything, the “open world” is but a confusing obstacle between quest objects. The dialogue is hardly “In-depth”; each monster girl only has a few lines to say before it’s on to the next “episode”. Visuals aren’t everything, but the cast of Monster Girl Dungeon may put a lot of people off. It’s important to note this game is considered “Early Access” by the developers — which implies that it is unfinished, and due for updates. If this is a game that interests you, it’s kinda free. Give it a try, and tell Sclavus what’s up!
