Manor of Mystic Courtesans

Foreword

This is a wonderful, though regrettably censored visual novel. Thanks to censorship, I would almost never recommend this game to anyone I know. But alas, I try to review games knowing that not everyone gets to enjoyed their pornography uncensored.

There is little player player interaction. The bulk of player choice lies with a woman who provides exposition, but beyond her it’s mostly only readin’.

. . . but yes, this is a game you can play one-handed!

Story

You’re the newest patron of the Manor of Mystic Courtesans. . . that’s a mouthful. You’re joined by Hostess Maria Sainte, who serves as a sort of tour guide and head honcho. The Manor a sanctuary of hedonism, a menagerie of exotic species to suit any and all’s sexual whims. Located between dimensions, the Manor resides in a small world which serves as a place of trade and commerce. Hostess Maria explains that she’s an apprentice, and she’s training to be a bonafide Courtesan (who serve as sexual partners).

That means you can look, but not touch.

Unless you’re sneaky-sneaky. Then you might be able to sneak a kiss with the Hostesses. How the night ends and who the protagonist falls in love with is up to you. There’s ten Courtesans total, each with a long sex scene and farewell. After choosing a Courtesan, the game will eventually end, and you’ll have to start a new game after playing the scene to completion.

Visuals

Though the titlescreen looked appealing, though a tad cluttered. From “Config” dialogue and audio settings can be adjusted, and fullscreen display toggled. Speaking of fullscreen, this game was designed in a one-to-one ratio, which means that maximizing the application will result in a pair of ugly black bars. The “Gallery” will allow you to review CGs, scenes and sound tracks. “About this Project” and “Release Notes” are places where the author discusses the game and its progress via the in-game interface.

Unrelated/sort of related, it would be cool if the developers had avatars. That way, their dialogue with the player would seem more personable.

The Goods

All of the artwork looks great! Each sex scene is loaded with (static) CGs, with many, many variants to show progress (such as money shots). Problem being, the CGs are both censored and in rendered in an awkward aspect ratio.

. . . expect female-on-female/male-on-female sexual intercourse.

Verdict

I definitely recommend this visual novel. If you don’t mind censorship, this is a great set (of ten) sexy scenes with tons of sexy CGs. However, there is no interaction during sexy time, and the story is strictly linear (once a Courtesan is selected). For the playtime, I think this game is overpriced. But for the CGs, wowee. ’nuff said.
