Gameplay: overview (2/5★)
Unscramble puzzle pieces to unlock lewd images! There are six images to see, each of them with three levels of difficulty; the first offers thirty-two pieces; the second ninety-six pieces: and third offers a whopping two-hundred-fixt-six pieces! There is no quick “cheat” button. “Self Assemble” will automatically complete puzzles piece-by-piece, but it’s a slow and arduous process. If you’re not the puzzle-type, it’s best to let the application run in the background as “auto assemble” works its magic. Thankfully, you don’t have to solve all three puzzles to move onto the next image. However, if you want to see bare boobies you better get good (or real patient).
Sexual Content: overview (4/5★)
There’s six base, static CGs (with variations for undress). Five of them feature masturbation or provocative posing, and one of them a lesbian orgy! The artwork is decent, but it looks pretty rough. It looks traced — that’s not necessarily a bad thing, but poor tracing generates telltale errors. I wish there was more explicit sexual content. For a game with “Fruit Girls” as part of the title, I was expecting to see more fruit — clothes with fruit on them don’t count! I wanted to see naked ladies do a bunch of dirty stuff with assorted fruit!
Story: overview (3/5★)
Credit where it’s due, Tabbu Entertainment Games got a little creative with the “story”. Each character is named after a fruit (but I wouldn’t called them anthropomorphized fruit — the story is not that creative). They all have a few tidbits of background information. There’s no overarching story, but it’s great to see some effort put into the cast. Most developers don’t even try to write stories.
Sound: overview (NA/5★)
I played this game muted, so I won’t be rating it based on sound.
Visuals: overview (4/5★)
The titlescreen looks great! It’s nicely formatted, and the background is thematically appropriate. I’m not sure what a “Darkroom” is defined as, but it allows you to review unlocked CGs. Though they can be borderless-fullscreened, at no point can the user-interface be hidden — lame. Audio and display preferences can be adjusted from the “Settings” menu. I found the graphics and user-interface to be somewhat amateurish, but it’s a pleasure to use. While browsing through “levels”, the text is poorly arranged; due to the placement of margins and use of spacers, paragraphs are crowded and jagged-shaped. I think the “facts” section needs reformatted.
Verdict: needs more variety (3/5★)
If you love jigsaw puzzles, this game has hours of content. However, I recommend waiting for a save system. No puzzle game should force players to solve two-hundred-plus boards without some form of “save” system in place. If puzzles aren’t your thing, stay away from this game. The “cheat” button is painstakingly slow, and the artwork isn’t worth the frustration. There’s only six images, and none of them are animated. Furthermore, the gallery interface can’t be hidden. Hentai Jigsaw Photo Studio: Fruit Girls is a mediocre game in need of quality-of-life updates. Until then, you should wait for updates (unless you want a “puzzling” afternoon!)
. . . que cricket noises.
