Gameplay (2/5★)
Rearrange tiles to complete images. Once you fully assemble an image, you have the option to graffiti or “touch” the subject. The graffiti options are quite limited — you’re better off using your computer’s in-built editor (this game makes Microsoft Paint look like Adobe Photoshop!) The “touch” function basically “jiggles” a large portion of the image. . . chances are, you’ll miss your mark. There is no adjustable difficult or unlockable levels.
You can add your own images to the game by throwing them into the following directory:
[Drive Letter]:\Steam\steamapps\common\Happy toys\Happy toys_Data\Image
Story (1/5★)
There is no story (and I’m not making one up!)
Visuals (1/5★)
There is no titlescreen. You can bring-up a menu to select images, but there are no adjustable user-preferences. Considering this game plays a balring soundtrack, that’s unacceptable. The game has a minimalistic appearance, but it lacks basic functionality. There is no gallery (though you can access your photos using your PC’s file browser at any time).
The ‘Goods’ (2/5★)
The base game features a repertoire of scantily clad anime ladies. The artwork is very high-quality, but it’s clearly a lifted gallery. If that’s not good enough, you can add your photos (but in that case, why not just skip the game and enjoy the photos?)
Verdict (1.5/5★)
I don’t recommend this game. Happy toys is technically the last swippy-swappy you ever need, but it lacks so much functionality it’s not worth it. It’s cool being able to turn your favorite art into swippy-swappies, but it’s dumb not being able to adjust difficulty. The lack of “settings” menu is appalling, and the “tools” for interacting with completed pieces suck hard. If you’re someone that enjoy swippy-swappy puzzles, I would skip this game in favor of better gameplay.
