Gameplay: overview (2/5★)
Jump over oncoming buildings by managing your “thrust”! There are nine levels, but they all play the same; you must scale a designated number of buildings through careful jumps. You may “jump” up to three times between touching the floor. The speed at which you jump dramatically affects your trajectory, allowing to shoot into the sky or carefully glide over structures. Unfortunately, there’s little difference between levels. . . you’d think there’d be birds, planes or moving cars to justify a range of maneuvers.
Actually, there are airplanes — and you have a gun that must be aimed via the cursor!
The introduction of enemies and firearms dramatically enhances gameplay. I’m not sure why No. 25 reserved baddies for the last four stages. The “combat” is terrible, but I think new ships and guns would make a better game. It’d be great if enemies shot back (but a life bar would need to be implemented to balance difficulty and “endless mode”). Something else I’d also like to see how power-ups (like new guns or protection) — randomized placement would encourage new movement, especially in the face of harder baddies.
Sexual Content: overview (3/5★)
There are nine animated CGs (with variations for undress, progression and climax). Each animation is tied to an annoying “minigame”. First, you must remove the subjects’ clothing by dragging the cursor (or you can just hold down the button until the gauge caps). To view the rest of the content, you must repeatedly click on the screen to “progress”. It’s over-complicated! It’s fine having a “climax” mechanic, but there should be an option to “browse” through images. It sucks when an scene abruptly ends because you clicked too much (they shouldn’t end until you hit the “back” button!) The artwork and animation are high-quality. The climaxes kind of blow; they’re conducted via short lived decals. It’d be nice if they were better animated (and more persistent). I didn’t see anything too kinky, mostly masturbation and insertation. There’s a real hot lesbian milking/BDSM scene — why couldn’t the whole gallery be just that?!
Story: overview (1/5★)
There is no story (and I’m not making one up!)
Sound: overview (3/5★)
Wow, the music sure is a mixed bag! It’s either a little cheesy or too serious. The music that plays while completing levels makes me feel as though shit’s gonna go down. On the other hand, the music that plays while playing through erotic content made me want to mute the application. It was some weird “sombrero” beat with offhand vocals (hey I’m Mexican, I can stereotype my people’s music all I want!) The sound effects were somewhat lacking. It was annoying hearing the “alarm” sound that plays whenever you hop over buildings. Sounds that were played during sex-scenes were using sparingly (maybe a little too sparingly). After listening to the audio Infinite Jump has to offer, I went ahead and muted the application. It wasn’t engaging enough to turn off my beats from Spotify.
Visuals: overview (3/5★)
The titlescreen is awful. It doesn’t make any thematic sense. I don’t get the angel-thing perched on the title — is that No. 25‘s mascot? If so, that’s not where mascots go. Those puppies are for before the titlescreen (or loading screens). From “Options”, you may adjust audio, display and language preferences. Choosing between languages is a pain in the rear; you have to switch between them one-by-one. The level-select screen doubles as a gallery. When viewing unlocked images, you can hit the “goggles” icon to completely hide the user-interface (until you click again). Graphically, this game offers a pleasant interface and gameplay. There isn’t enough variety to keep the game fresh. There really needs to be more buildings and unique environments — maybe there could be lewd billboards!
Verdict: needs more variety (2/5★)
I’d wait for a few updates, but Infinite Jump isn’t so bad. The gameplay and gallery functionality need some work before I can confidently recommend this game. If gameplay doesn’t concern you, the artwork is pretty high-quality. Since there is no “cheat” button, I still suggest waiting on development (because level completion is totally unavoidable). As-is, Infinite Jump is a mediocre game that has the capacity to be a engaging platformer. I hope No. 25 takes Infinite Jump out of “Early Access” with new updates!
