Gameplay
. . . in a nutshell
Pew! Pew! Pew!
out the shell. . .
Shoot baddies and don’t get hit — enemies regularly drop weapons, which are randomly generated. There’s a variety of weapon types, with an even wider variety of projectiles. Any weapon other than your starting gun (Ol’ Reliable) has limited ammunition, and as enemies become tankier it will become crucial to land your shots. Enemies will converge on your location, so it’s important to stay on the move (and not get cornered). Overall, gameplay is deadly simple.
No! This is not a game you can play one-handed!
Story
What I take from this game is that you play as a sort of super-soldier (that totally looks like DOOM guy). There’s some kind of robot invasion occuring, and they all want a piece of him. Should they catch him, he’ll become one of them.
. . . which is a real shame because those ‘bots aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed.
Visuals
The titlescreen looked. . . meh, but it was otherwise clean and easy to navigate. I would have liked to have seen some over-the-top scene with the protagonist firing upon a crowd of ravenous robots with a gun in each hand — I guess I just have DOOM on the mind. From “Options” you can adjust audio and display preferences. Difficulty modifiers can be accessed from the “Challenges” button on the main menu.
Verdict
This is a great lil’ game, it’s a shame that it is so lacking in content. With more enemies, stages, unlockables and so on, this is a game I’m sure that players would be happy to shell out a few dollars for.
