Gameplay
. . . in a nutshell
Die again and again figuring out where the hit box is.
out the shell. . .
A standard, and otherwise unremarkable shoot-’em-up. You pick one of three characters, each signifying a level of difficulty. Each character after the next has improved stats, or an increased number of projectiles.
No! This is not a game you can play one-handed!
Story
The Sakura Stars are a special task force of ladies selected by the Tanukis. When the world is attacked by Yokai, the Sakura Stars are granted magic powers to defend humanity.
Visuals
The titlescreen is plain and simple — and certainly stylistically appropritate. There are no adjustable user preferences, so if you want to mute the game you’ll have to do so externally. The game takes place in a one-to-one ratio, though the application is fullscreened by default. The playable characters are much larger than the projectiles that you’ll be dodging — however, your hitbox is located somewhere around the eyes. I think this is a big oversight on the developer’s part, and they could have at least let us know how to play the game.
The Goods
A lot of the bosses show some skin. Is that good enough for you?
. . . expect bikini-clad anime babes.
Verdict
Wait for a sale. I have mixed feelings about this game. The artwork is on-point, and the gameplay is alright (once you figure out where you’re allowed to get hit). But unless you really like shoot-’em-ups or bullet hells, you’re probably not going to like this title.
