GIRLS DEFENCE

Foreword

I originally published a review for GIRLS DEFENCE on February 12th, 2020. I have updated that review, to reflect my thoughts on this game as of September, 2020. When I played this game, I was thoroughly impressed (and I played this game completion, I think.) It’s a shame an adult patch has yet to be released — one of these, I want to play the the DLSite version, which contains sexual content.

Gameplay

Allocate funds into a team of stationary companions, and hold the point — or duke it out with powerful bosses (and their minions) on your own. The main protagonist is able to freely roam each level, augmenting her own task force or defeating problem enemies. By repeating missions, you can grind for money to upgrade the protagonist and unlock new companions. Take care not to get hit: the damage animation will often result in enemies chaining hits, causing you to lose all of your hitpoints with no recourse.

Story

Cannon is a member of the Cinder Guard, and together they protect planet Earth’s women from total annihilation. There no men left on the world, having died-off drom “radiation” (which apparently didn’t affect the opposite gender.) For whatever reason, the world is under attack from a wide array of grotesque creatures.

Visuals

The loved the animation that precedes the titlescreen, with Cannon shooting a hole through the screen. The titlemenu and user-interface are generally refined. Once you load up a save file, you can access the “Option” menu. There, you can adjust difficulty, display, gameplay, and graphical preferences (and surprisingly, no audio preferences). The English leaves something to be desired (and it is riddled with typos), but I didn’t have any trouble following the story and navigating the game. The artwork and animations are nothing short of awesome; however, I would have liked to have seen a more diverse number of character portraits during cutscenes.

The Goods

It’s important to note that the Steam version of GIRLS DEFENCE has no adult content. However, every character is animated specifically to showcase their panties. It’s as if there’s a wind current beneath everyone’s feet!

Verdict

I do recommend this game, though it’s worth mentioning that the version on DLSite has (censored) sexual content. The production quality is really good — the artwork is high-quality, and the gameplay is engaging. It’s fun unlocking new units, and trying out new strategies to score higher ratings on missions (and reap the rewards). I would wait for a sale, or consider the DLSite version (which is only slightly more expensive).
