Chapter One: Introduction

I received a free copy of this software from the developer for review purpose — thanks WOOP MEDIA!

Chapter Two: Gameplay (2/5★)

Section One: Overview

Club Hentai: Girls, Love, Sex is all about mashing the mouse button and time management. Each “day” consists of catering to guests by micromanaging your crew to deliver the correct services in the correct order before they walk out. Upon reaching the latter half of the game, there’s no shortage of frantic button mashing while stressing about staffing — I’ve always wanted to feel like I’m at work when I’m at home!

Section Two: Customization

Your club and its employees are customizable! Additionally, outfits and furnishings may be upgraded to enhance gameplay, such as increasing income or the effectiveness of dancing. Unfortunately, upgrades are tied to each cosmetic. If you were to say, change the color of someone’s underwear, she would effectively lose all of her upgrades.

As a result, you’re incentivized not to play with customization. I felt like I wasn’t allowed to change characters or their outfits without first raising enough money to mitigate loss of performance. Making matters worse, cosmetics are collected at random. You can’t just choose your favorite colors from the beginning of the game. Until WOOP MEDIA fixes the poorly balanced customization system, it may be best not to consider it a selling point.

Section Three: Controls

Navigation felt clunky; I had to learn exactly where I was allowed to click to prevent my waitress from idling. Each station has a clickable area which doesn’t always include occupants. I’d click on a guest only to have my waitress rush behind them. Sometimes, my waitress would outright refuse to respond. She wouldn’t perform certain actions while preparing martinis or repairing tables. I had find something else she’d respond to, and then click on the thing I wanted her to do in the first place.

If WOOP MEDIA is reading this article, no I don’t remember what “certain actions” were.

Chapter Three: Sexual Content (3/5★)

Section One: Implementation

Sex plays no part of gameplay; if you don’t go out of your way unlock sexual content, you will find Club Hentai: Girls, Love, Sex is surprisingly tame.

To purchase sex-scenes, you must collect “Reply Tokens” and “Rabbit Masks” from completing levels. Reply Tokens are consumed whenever you choose to speak with unlocked employees — after spending a sufficient number of Tokens, you may instead spend Rabbit Masks to unlock a sex-scene. I estimate there are thirty-two unlockable animations, or up to five scenes per unlockable character.

Section Two: Interactivity

When viewing sex-scenes via the “Gallery”, the animations may be sped-up or ended with a climax. The camera is free to roam the scene.

Section Three: Quality

The animations are okay, but men really got the short end of the stick. They’re lifeless, unblinkingly staring into the void as the ladies do all of the work. Female genitalia isn’t animated, resulting in extensive clipping.

Chapter Four: Story (3/5★)

Once a “complete mess” of a restaurant, Club Hentai is the new strip joint on the block. Just when things are looking up for the staff, they are approached by a representative of NoShame Industries. NoShame wants to buy the budding business — but Club Hentai isn’t interested in selling.

Hoping to scare Club Hentai into submission, NoShame sues them.

However, NoShame isn’t interested in competition. In the face of an upcoming legal battle, Club Hentai must raise a “substantial amount of money by the end of the month”.

Chapter Five: Sound (3/5★)

Section I: Soundtrack

Club Hentai: Girls, Love, Sex features a jazzy sound track fit for a classy club. During sexually charged moments, the music turns lewd with a regular moaning. However, there isn’t a lot of music to go around; only a few tracks are played throughout the game. I was tempted to mute the music, but I soldiered through for the sake of this review.

Section II: Sound Effects

For the most part, the sound effects are fine. The game does a good job providing audio ques whenever a guest needs your attention. The only bit that bothered me was the sound of collecting money, which is pretty hard on the ears.

Section III: Voice Acting

Moaning sounds muffled, as if it were recorded from a pair of headphones instead of a proper mic.

Chapter Six: Visuals (3/5★)

Section I: User Interface

I was surprised to see no titlescreen or main-menu. Upon booting the application, the game will pick up where you left off. The user-interface has a lot of personality — I like it! It’s visually engaging with lots of icons and graphics.

From the “Settings” menu, audio and display preferences may be adjusted. There’s also an option to toggle “Censored Mode”; reportedly “it does not remove sex scenes and some sexy customization elements”.

Section Two: Graphics

I enjoyed the creativity behind the environments. As tacky as the “breast stage” and wiener-shaped desks were, they’re fun props. The graphics are fun and colorful, albeit a visibly low poly compared to guests and playable characters.

There’s a distinct lack of variety beyond playable characters. Guests are copy and pasted with one of two outfits and randomly colored hair. Men are the worst offenders — at least playable women are stylistically varied. Considering the main protagonist and antagonist are men, I don’t think WOOP MEDIA should be cutting corners on them.

Chapter Seven: Verdict (3/5★)

Club Hentai: Girls, Love, Sex isn’t my cup of tea, but I can see the appeal. Yet, despite the fast-paced nature of gameplay I was bored out of my mind. Though more tasks and micromanagement are continuously layered onto gameplay, ultimately they’re just more of the same thing. Bizarrely, progression and cosmetics are married in such a way to discourage players from enjoying the customization system. Club Hentai: Girls, Love, Sex needs a lot of balancing before its worth the stress.

Epilogue: Recommendations

Gameplay

Add WASD controls to mitigate boredom. Until reaching the latter half of the game, there’s a lot of downtime between gameplay. I found myself clicking between stations while waiting for something to do. I wish the waitress could be controlled using WASD or “arrow” controls — at least I’d be able to walk in circles while I’m waiting.

Tie upgrades to characters, not their outfits. Upgrades cost so much money, it’s ridiculous to have to pay for them twice just to change the color of someone’s clothes. On that topic, upgrades should apply to all cosmetics within their respective categories. If players upgrade their walls, all subsequently purchased walls should be automatically upgraded.

Sexual Content

Consider adding lesbian content. Lesbian tension shouldn’t be implied without lesbian animations.

Make the user-interface toggleable. I only need to know how to control the camera once.

Get rid of the minigame for sex-scenes. The amount of focus it takes to complete this minigame makes it impossible to watch the animation until it’s finished. I felt like the game was mocking me with “Move Camera Around” as I remained focused on passing the minigame.

Story

Learn to write interesting characters. I appreciate the effort put into all of the dialogue, but I couldn’t care less about the cast. I vaguely remember some attempts at comedy, but I wasn’t impressed.

Mention the restaurant with dialogue. Surely, the “Palm Restaurant” had at least a few patrons before it was converted into Club Hentai. Maybe the “health inspector” could compare the old establishment to Club Hentai.

Sound

Add more music tracks or increase the length of existing ones.

Increase the clarity of moaning sounds . They might need to be rerecorded.

Visuals

Improve the facial expressions of male models. Blinking would be a good start.
