Gameplay
Fire colored marbles into an oncoming stream of more colored marbles and match rows of three or more! The goal is to eliminate all of the marbles before they reach the end of track. By matching three or more like-colored balls, they are eliminated and “fall back” (making it possible to chain matching rows). At your disposal are a handful of special abilities, which periodically show-up in your ball launcher. It’s important to act fast, because if a single marble slips past the goal it’s game over! After winning a match, you earn coins which can be used to purchase gifts for the characters; as their disposition increases, they’ll undress (and you’ll unlock lewd scenes!)
Maybe I just suck, but this game is a little too punishing!
It’s not hard to lose, especially if you don’t get the colored marbles you need (or misplace a special ability!) There were a lot of matches I played that seemed impossible: there were absolutely no combos that I could make, and the only way to win would have been to create gobs of matching rows in rapid succession using the randomly assigned marbles (with only seconds to spare!) Some stages are easier than the next, but I’m skeptical this game will appeal to “casual” lewd gamers. I think players should have some sort of “health points”, allowing them to miss a few marbles before receiving a “game over”. Or better yet, players should earn more money after losing a match.
Story
You’re the new guy at school; well, actually you’re the only guy at school. Emily explains that you’re the newest addition to (what was once) an all-girl, private school. Emily introduces you to four of her lady-friends, all of whom members of the “Marble Popping Club”. After joining the team, Emily explains that they’ll only talk to you if you win at Marble Popping (per ancient school tradition.) What a. . . strange school.
Visuals
There is no titlescreen — it’s straight to the level-select screen! From the button at the top-left corner, you can pull-up the “Gallery” and “Settings”. You can review static CGs from the Gallery, though animated content is reserved for the “XXX” button (when the respective character’s relationship meter is high enough.) In either case, the user-interface cannot be hidden. From “Settings”, you may adjust audio, display and language preferences.
The Goods
There are five characters in the game, each with a nude model and a sex-scene. The artwork is okay, though the CGs are unvaried. There are multiple variants for the sex-scenes, but there’s little change from the base-CG. The sex-scenes are paired with a minigame, in which (A) you watch a gauge fill-up or (B) you click a button to make the gauge fill-up faster. I was not impressed by the stock-backgrounds or inability to hide the user-interface when viewing sex-scenes.
Verdict
I recommend this game if (and only if) the gameplay interests you — otherwise, the lewd content is both time-consuming to acquire and (frankly) not worth the effort. Hentai Students: Love Puzzle is a somewhat challenging game with meaningful gameplay; I had to carefully consider my moves, and I lost many-a-times as I learned how to play the game. If you’re interested gradually undressing waifus through stressful, action-packed gameplay, I think Hentai Students: Love Puzzle has got you (and maybe your keyboard) covered!
