Deep sea death is a lewd runner game about Ryona’s escape from a sea of rapey sea creatures — spoiler alert, she doesn’t.
(F, FxM) Sexual content.
Hours of Gameplay?
No, not necessary.
I originally published a review for Deep sea death on March 21st, 2020. I have updated that review, to reflect my thoughts on this game as of September, 2020. I still maintain a negative opinion towards this game, and I still think it a shame that censorship laws mar wonderful, lewd art.
This is a below-average runner game, albiet with a delightful depraved premise. Instead of dodging incoming traffic, you dodge fish — and instead of getting smooshed, you get raped (and you still die too). Hazards will appear on one of three points on-screen. The idea is to weave between the rapey fish, or face a sex scene and a game over screen. That’s about all there is to it.
It’s really, really boring.
The ocean is deep, dark, scary place. Hundreds of divers die every year to the dangers of the sea. Oblivious to the warnings, Ryona decides to dive down under (for reasons unknown). As it turns out, the sea fauna has it out for humans, but in different ways for different sexes. Men get the short end of stick and they just sort die. However, the fish of the sea are more interested in ladies’ lady bits than eating them. That sounds great and all, except you know, humans sort of can’t breath water.
All things considered, I guess you could say Ryona is in. . . hot water.
I found the titlescreen to be boring and somewhat unrefined, but it’s otherwise thematic and well-formatted. Overall, I consider the user-interface to be lacking in appearance. There are no adjustable user-settings, and the application cannot be fullscreened — this is unacceptable. The “Gallery” is just what it sounds like, a place to check-out CGs. All CGs are unlocked from the get-go.
There are twelve scenes depicting the protagonist being death-raped by various sea creatures. Each is composed of two or more (static) CGs that are automatically panned, progressed, and zoomed. Unfortunately, this “feature” cannot be toggled. The artwork is really good, and in each scene you get to see the protagonist running out of oxygen as she is violated. There are also eight animated CGs where the protagonist being raped by an orca-whale, rendered via the in-game 3D models. The 3D models are a subpar, and the animation choppy. I would have liked the ability to apply a background when viewing the animations.
Also, everything is censored with gross mosaics.
I don’t recommend this game for the game. If you’re okay with censorship, and you have a thing for drowning and sea-creature-sex, then you might get a kick out of the gallery. As Deep sea death fails to deliver as a fun, interactive experience, it’s really only worth it for the pictures — and if it’s straight porn that you want, I’m sure a Google Search would be happy to oblige for the low-low cost of free.
